In my design class, Professor Carson had everyone make contour line drawings. We were able to grab an item from a table she had full of objects and use them to draw our contour lines. We had the choice to either look at our drawing like a regular sketch or we could do blind contour drawings in whatever utensil we wanted to use in our mixed media drawing books.
For a moment, I would like to talk about a really famous artist who is quite known for his contour drawings. That artist would be Andy Warhol. While most people know of his iconic pop art, he also did a lot of contour line work as well.
In class we had to make at least 25 contour line drawings in our drawing pads. These are some of the drawings I did for the assignment. I did regular kinds of drawing as well as some blind contour drawings to mix it up a little as well as used different utensils to draw with so they could have sort of a unique touch to them.
